 In their latest project, director Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman are both perfectly fit to breathe life into this latest iteration of the Addams Family with "Wednesday." The show follows the Addams family focusing on Wednesday Myflixer time at Nevermore Academy. a school named after one of their most famous graduates, Edgar Allan Poe. After being suspended from his previous high school, Wednesday is sent to this school for outcasts.

Jenna Ortega is in the lead role in this series. and starring Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Galpin, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Pugsley as Isaac Ordonez. Adams, Christina Ricci as Marilyn Thornhill, and Victor Dorobuntu as the Thing.

Burton directs the first four episodes. and is the acting producer of the show. The series consists of eight episodes that range in length from 50 minutes to one hour. The cinematography is fitting for this world and story. Its use of shadow and light makes it stand out. Because it enhances the suspense of the scene. The writing is sharp and there are some witty one-liners. The costumes also suit these characters. Black and white clothes are always worn on Wednesday. No matter what the occasion. All are executed superbly.

The first episode perfectly sets the foundation for the show by telling us how Wednesday gets kicked out of school. And we get our first glimpse of Gomez and Morticia. Zeta-Jones and Guzman bring their own stamp to portray this iconic couple. Their chemistry is believable. And his relationship with Wednesday is relatable. They aren't present in all episodes, but they are memorable.

Ortega as Wednesday Adams is perfect! She brings this magnetic stereotype to her performance by brilliantly blending aspects of past portrayals of the character with a contemporary lens. She does a lot of facial acting. Especially in his eyes. is not necessarily the. His performance may be forceful, yet his restraint, monotone dialogue delivery, and responsive expressions express more than words. which can never be explained.

There's no doubt that Wednesday is my favorite character on the show, but I didn't expect to be as invested in the Thing. This is correct. One Hand is one of my favorite characters. In addition to its innovative new design, it oozes personality and expression as much as it shows. That's incredible.

The show pays homage to specific scenes from the Addams Family movies of the '90s. And I couldn't be more excited to see the emblematic passing of the torch from Ricci to Ortega. I was also looking forward to the representation aspect of all this. A Latina Wednesday Adams, but to me, that's the best kind of representation she is. Which goes untold. The word "Latino" is not mentioned once in this show. But I know it's because of the music she listens to. How does she communicate with her father? and in reference to "Dia de Muertos". Small details tell us about Wednesday complications. To separate just that part without identifying it. There's a lot more to Wednesday than just her ethnicity. And I wholeheartedly applaud the show for depicting that. She's a writer, a spy, always one step ahead of everyone.

She is straightforward, bold, socially awkward, and persistent. The advantage of an eight-episode arc is that it allows room for character development. The show succeeds in fleshing out the supporting characters and building relationships between them. The murder mystery at the heart of the story has many unexpected twists and turns. Which I didn't see coming. It kept me in suspense and constantly guessing who did what and why. It also dives into family dynamics, friendships, and generational trauma.

Overall, "Wednesday" is a dark, compelling, murder mystery brilliantly told through the gothic aesthetic and style of a perfectly appropriate Burton. Which is anchored by a magnetic performance from Ortega that further solidifies her status as one of the best up-and-coming actresses.
